January 6 - A glimpse of His mercy

The Bible says in Hebrews 4v15&16:
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

The mercy of God. We see a glimpse of it in Genesis 19v16:

“But while he lingered, the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, for the Lord was merciful to him; and they brought him forth and set him outside the city and left him there.” (Amplified Bible)

“And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.” (King James Version).

Sometimes we find ourselves contemplating on the *should I / should I nots* of life when those things could potentially destroy us, as we see in the life of Lot. Not leaving Sodom would have destroyed him but God’s mercy caused him to be forcefully evicted and not destroyed.

God says we should come to His throne of grace, so we might also obtain mercy and grace for help in times that we might need it. Don’t be scared to ask for His mercy. Jesus also went through the types of temptation we are going through, but was able to come out of them without having any sin, and so He understands all that we might be going through. May God’s mercy and grace continue to pull us out of all scraps that we might get ourselves into in Jesus name, Amen.
