March 14 - Psalm 15 - On being ensnared
"LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in Thy holy hill?" Psalm 15v1
"In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not." Psalm 15v4
Yesterday, I had made an appointment to meet up with some friends for dinner, and then realized that I had another engagement. And then this verse came to mind that... ah, would it really be wrong to change my mind on this decision, given also that it is said that a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
But we see too in other translations, that a person who sweareth to his own hurt and changeth not, is one who:
"...keeps his oath even when it hurts," Psalm 15v4 (New International Version)
"...keeps their promises even when it hurts." Psalm 15v4 (New Living Translation)

Verses for thought:
"But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." Matthew 5v37
"Thou are snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go humble thyself, and make sure thy friend." Proverbs 6v2&3
