January 14 – For with God, nothing shall be impossible

So one day, the disciples of Jesus said to Him:

“… who then can be saved?” And this was after Jesus told them that:

“Then said Jesus unto His disciples, Verily I say unto, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19 v 23&24

It is strange though that the disciples thought who then can be saved, if the rich men could hardly go to heaven. What is it about the rich that would make the disciples think that surely these ones could go to heaven. Perhaps it is the fact that they are able to give to the poor, travel to worship God in certain places, lend without asking for a return… all the things that seem good and right, that make the disciples think … who then can be saved?

However, to their question, Jesus replies:

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19 v 26

Have a glorious day.

Verse for praise:
“I know that Thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from Thee.” Job 42v2

Verse for thought:
“Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.” Proverbs 29 v 26
