January 23 – Guarding against yo-yo-ness

SO there are often times when we do not feel like doing things or being things. For instance being joyful, or being self-less, or being kind, or loving, or singing, or being joyful. God is great though. It seems like in those times, He just keeps silent, waiting for us to jump back to the reality that joy, and strength, and peace, and desire, can be found in Him.

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16v11

And so, as David prayed that

“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in His temple.” Psalm 27v4

So also should we desire, for we know that in a place where there is much joy and pleasures for evermore, it is hard to be sulky and unwilling and ungracious and unloving.

Have a wonderful day.

Verses for thought:
“But let all those that put their trust in Thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because Thou defendest them: let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee.” Psalm 5v11

“Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;

Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.” Deuteronomy 28v47&48
