April 5 – The fear of the Lord

“What man is he that feareth the LORD?...” Psalm 25v12

One might ask, what does it mean to fear the Lord. I guess putting Him on the forefront of Your mind, Your entire being. Being mindful of what pleases Him, rather than what we or other people desire. Thus we see David say

“I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,
Until I find a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.” Psalm 132 v 4&5

We see Joseph say (when asked to sleep with Potiphar’s wife), how can I do this thing and wickedly depart from my God. It is seeking the approval of God, rather than the praise of man. It is loving God with all your heart, and all your soul and all your heart. It is having Him on the forefront of your heart. And we see in Psalm 25, that those who fear the LORD,

1) him shall He teach in the way that He shall choose (v12)
2) His soul shall dwell at ease (v13)
3) His seed shall inherit the earth (v13)
4) The secret of the LORD will be with them (v14)
5) He will shew them His covenant (v14)

Have a very blessed day.

Verses for thought:
