April 30 – Jesus’ humility

There is a verse in the Bible, that I had hardly ever understood, at least in the way it was phrased in the King James Bible. This we see in Philippians 2v6. Put in context, we see that Philippians 2v5-7 says:

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”

That is, Jesus, though being equal with God, did not see it as something to hold tight unto; nor something to cling to the privileges of its status; nor something to be eagerly held unto or retained. Reminds me of the imagine, if only they knew who I was mentality that we often have. We see this even in action when Jesus was on earth, where in the book of John it says:

“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He was come from God, and went to God;

He riseth from supper, … and began to wash the disciple’s feet …” John 13v3-5

Knowing full well who He was, and where He was going to in a matter of days. Our Lord Jesus did this. How much more us?

Have a great day.

“Because of that obedience, God lifted Him high and honored Him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that He is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father.” Philippians 2v9-11 (The Message)
